Guacamole – Quick , easy, simple, healthy and absolutely tasty for my kid! This is our recipe for those early morning school days when we have to prepare a quick breakfast for my kid. My kid loves to eat breakfast at home and we need to get creative to prepare quick and healthy menu. Enter guacamole on toast 🙂
Avacado – a berry fruit with a single seed – is quite a unique fruit with its buttery texture and smooth creamy flavor. And it is this texture and creamy flavor which lends this unique taste to the guacamole . Apparently the word guacamole comes from the Nahuatl word “āhuacamōlli,” which translates to “avocado sauce.” Fitting name I would say 🙂 By the way, although the avocado flesh is rich in fats, it is unsaturated fats which can help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.1
I know that the original guacamole calls for more ingredients – onions, cilantro etc. But I am not claiming this to be the original. I have customized the ingredients ( or in this case adapted and reduced) to fit to kids palate – especially my kid. And she loves it!
Taste resemblance
Perfect harmony of creamy, buttery paste with saltiness and tart.
Guacamole – Serving & Pairing options
There are several ways of eating this dish. You can spread it in on toast or you can use it as a dip or add as a topping in a sandwich or burrito or wrap or simply eat it like that.
Storing options for Guacamole
Eat it fresh! It is so quick to make that I would recommend making really small batches and use it all up. If you did make more than usual, store it in airtight container and consume it within 1-2 days.
Note
Most of guacamole is avocado. Hence the fresher and higher quality the avocado the better the quality of this dish. Select ripe avocados that are slightly soft to the touch but not mushy. And also store them properly . Here are some storing tips for the avocado : Avocado storage tips
