Aam Panha – Raw mango cold drink to beat the heat!

Aam Panha – Indian Raw mango cooler drink!  Well I am back with the #MangoSeries . All thanks to Madhumati Sawant who shared this lip-smacking drink recipe!

Indians love mango. Period. Well at least most of them 🙂So much that it is the national fruit of India.

So no wonder every summer when the mango season arrives – Indians go MANGO! I am sure the same is also true in the other countries where mango is grown. Aamras – or the sweet Mango Juice – is a gob smacking popular dish that is part of every Indian celebration OR almost for everyday meal during the Indian mango season. But that is just one recipe. And when a nation loves a fruit.. Well of course we tend to involve it in many recipes.. And so you will find it many recipes and of course in drinks .. Mango Lassi anyone? 🙂

Well all these recipes are with the mango fruit.. Which is sweet.. And then there is the Raw Mango .. a lovely sweet and sour combination of flavors which is also used in many Indian recipes.. Including this lovely drink … the Aam Panha.
Come mango season, this drink is the popular in many houses , especially in Maharashtra . And needless to say.. I have had many many glasses of this lovely drink.

And as with many other Indian recipes, the aam panha has also variants. This mainly comes from the varieties of mangoes used and the combining spice like cardamom, kesar etc.

This recipe was made with Rajapuri Raw Mango , as it has a lovely sweet and sour taste which gives a unique taste to the Panha.

Serving options for Aam Panha

Simply serve it plain and cold! Or you can also add a bit of cardamom powder or raw kesar. In this recipes I have used the kesar.

Alternative ingredients for Aam Panha

If you are not a fan of powdered sugar, then you can also used jaggery OR brown sugar for the panha. Similarly instead of salt you could use the chat masala 🙂

Storage options for Aam Panha

Once the panha drink is made you can store it for a maximum of 3-4 days in fridge.Hence make it in smaller quantities.
You can however freeze the panha base paste mix and then store it up to a month. Here the recommendation is to freeze it in small batches.

Good to know!

As Aam Panha is acidic in nature, it is advised to restrict consumption of Panha to a maximum of 2-3 glasses a day
